Train Knitting and Tinking...
Picked up "Juliet" again this morning as have more yarn now. Decided I would try to get another pattern repeat done on the train this morning. No such luck. In my half asleep state I judged where I was in the pattern incorrectly, did two and half rows and then had to tink back to where I'd begun. By the time I'd done that I'd arrived at work! My fingers are itching to pick it up again, but its lunch time now and I've got a seminar to run this afternoon. That train journey home is calling me!
To fill in time while waiting for extra yarn for "Juliet" I knitted another C&G sample (edging), and the Umbilical Cord Hat from S&B Vol 1 in Patons Washed Haze aran cotton from stash for a new baby gift. Photo pending. I need to do another two of these in the next few weeks, as babies appear to be being born weekly amongst my friends at the moment!
Expecting to have some car knitting time this weekend as travelling to Hull and back again; but looks like it will be finishing "Juliet" unless I get a lot done on her tomorrow.

Back in Bromley
Managed to post some pictures of what I've been working on this week. First, the City & Guilds samples for Module 1 of Distance Knitting (which I've been doing for about 18 months and still haven't completed...). Significant progress made this week!
Then, Juliet, which is coming along well and would have been finished if I hadn't run out of yarn. Will get another ball tomorrow (and hopefully match the dyelot), and knit another 4 or so pattern repeats.
And lastly, the 80s sleeveless top in Debbie Bliss silk. Pulled it across the needles a bit so the openwork vertical stripes can (sort of) be seen.
And at knitting group today I got a lovely birthday present of Interweave's "Favourite Sock Patterns" and 2 balls of Regia yarn! So a pair of socks will need to be make at some point.

Knitting on holiday...
Having a week off - spending part of the week in Blackpool (Illuminations and, unfortunately, Tory party conference, which hubby is attending) and Thursday/Friday at home. Travelled up by way of Yorkshire, which gave me a chance to check Hammonds in Hull for special offers. Bought a knitting bag (v bright retro print) and a ball of Patons grey alpaca/wool mix Inca to finish off a Teva Durham knit from last year which I've just been so unsure about - the assymetric neck vest. I made it longer than recommended as I have a long torso, then didn't have enough yarn to crochet the edgings. I knitted it in Rowan Big Wool, in a dark grey and can't match the shade now, so going for a complementary grey. Might try it out, might ebay it... I don't like knitting Teva's patterns although I like her design style. I actually don't think her patterns are well written (although it might be my interpretation of them) as items never come out with a good fit; whereas, for example, everything I've knitted by Stephanie Japel fits and looks good.
One of my knitting group members inspired me to try ebay for those items I've finished but don't really like, so I tried it this week with the black mohair paris loop (I got the yarn I used for that for free so it seemed worth a try). It's sold but not for very much - be interesting to see if Rowan yarn and a Teva pattern meant an item would sell for more.
Making steady progress on the vintage silk knit and on "juliet" so piccies pending. Might to try post a piccie of the Illuminations as well, particularly for foreign visitors of this blog.
Also gifted the two tone ribbed shrug to a more petite friend, as it was too short in the back for me really - looked nice on her when she tried it on in the restaurant we were at!
